Ingrown Toe Nail

I know, I know it sounds gross. But it can happen even to best of us.

There are two different "cures" for this ailment.

The first is the best one. CUACHALALATE (pictured on the right). I actually looked it up on the ol' internet and found a couple of websites that sell it, so I guess it isn't so difficult to find. Well it looks like tree bark and my mom swears by it for most things.

THE FOLLOWING IS FROM THE WEBSITE (http://store.healingifts.com/cuochorcu1oz.html): Cuachalalate 1 oz or 1 lb (Ampbypteryngium adstingens) It is used commonly to treat ulcers, cancer of stomach, gastritis and cutaneous wounds. The part of the plant that more is utilized is the bark. For the processing of the ulcers should be soaked until the water acquire coloring, later I consume it as water of use. In the case of light injuries, grains and sores, the cooking of the same one should be taken, to be washed with the marinated and to place the resin or bark pulverized on the part affected. In blows, pickets of poisonous animals and as cicatrizante, is recommended to wash during five days al less. On the other hand, if there is infection or inflammation in the headquarters or ovaries, the bark of the Cuachalalate or Cuachalala boils to use it as poultice.

A process for the production of a substance to eliminate the bacteria Helicobacter Pylori, involving boiling 3 (three) kilos of Cuachalalate (Amphipterygium adstringens) crust in sixteen (16) liters of water in a close express pan with a capacity of 21 (twenty-one) liters, for a period of 5 (five) hours, without permitting evaporation. After the boiling period has elapsed, using a filter system, the crust is separated from the resulting liquid or solution. After separating the crust, around six (6) liters of the new solution are obtained. Since the taste of the solution is strong, 1 (one) cubic centimeter of liquid menthol is added in order to make the solution more drinkable. After the prior steps have been taken, the solution must be refrigerated until it is bottled and used. Pills and tablets can be manufactured from the original solution.

My mom just boils it in water in a regular little pan (actually those blue ones from Mexico) and lets it sit. Then you take the tea and soak your foot in it.

She uses the tea to put it on her wounds, from all of her surgeries. On animal bites, bruises, just about anything.

The second option is to slice up an onion or a garlic head and directly place it on your ingrown nail. You will leave it on the nail until the item dries out. This will minimize the pain.
